My name is Julie Stevens. I have been an educator for 21 years. In those years, I taught first and second grade. i currently teach in Indiana but I also spent five years living and teaching in Kansas. I learned so much about early literacy instruction from the powerhouse teachers with whom I worked. One was the Kansas Teacher of the Year and our Literacy Coach at the time. The other powerhouse teacher I had the opportunity from whom to learn is now the Assistant Director at the Indiana Department of Education. There have been many more incredible educators who have inspired me over the years in the 3 school districts I was honored to serve.
i have had many leadership opportunities over the course of my career. I hope I have inspired other educators as much as I have been inspired.

i recently earned my administrative license and hope to become an assistant principal in the next few years.
I love my career in education and am excited to share my knowledge, my tips, my favorites, and my resources with other teachers.

i have a TPT store. My products I offer on TPT are all items I have used in my own classroom to enhance my students' learning and to organize myself as a classroom teacher.

The brand "Julie's Classroom Closet" was born out of a long weekend of organizing my classroom with my husband's help many years ago. At one point he pointed to my classroom closet and said, "You have so much in there. Are you sure you really need all that?" From that conversation came the idea for the name of my TPT store. In recent years, I have transformed the name into my brand.
